Dr. Frank O., Sr.
Dr. Frank O. Raasch, Sr., 84, of 2116 Avenue D, died Wednesday at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney. He had been in ill health for about two months.
Dr. Raasch was born in Kearney and had resided here all his life.
He graduated from Kearney High School in 1918 and Creighton Dental School in 1925. He then returned to Kearney and practiced dentistry until three months ago.
He served in the U.S. Army in World War II, and retired from the Army Reserves 11 years ago holding the rank of Colonel.
Dr. Raasch served as a city councilman for six years. He was a fellow of the American College of Dentists and was a member of the Nebraska and American dental associations, the Prosthetic and Plastic associations, Masonic Lodge (for 60 years), Knights of Templar and Chapter, Scottish Rite, Tehama Temple, First United Presbyterian Church and was past president of the Reserve Officers Association.
He is survived by his wife, Edith of Kearney; a son, Dr. Frank O. Raasch, Jr. of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter Karen of Campbelltown, Pa.; three step-grandchildren; and a sister Ella Karns of Denver, Colo.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10 am. at First United Presbyterian Church in Kearney. The Rev. Jud Van Gorder will officiate with Dr. Robert F. Park assisting. Burial will be in Kearney Cemetery with military rites at graveside by Kearney VFW.
