JACOB, Sutter

Papillion Times Feb 10, 1893 Jacob Sutter, Sr. - - At about noon last Saturday, death visited the home of Jacob Sutter, Sr., in Fairview precinct and laid his icy hand upon the head of that household. Mr. Sutter had long suffered from a chronic trouble in which rheumatism held a conspicuous place. He was able to be up and around the house until two weeks ago, when he contracted a severe cold, which, with his other ailments, soon exhausted the physical forces. Mr. Sutter was born February 15, 1824, at Schalistadt, Baden, Germany. He came to this country in 1852, and for a few months resided in New York. then he removed to La Salle county, Illinois, where he remained for thirty years, and where, in 1857, he was united in marriage with Miss Barbara Ott, who still survives. The issue of this happy union was five children, all of whom are now living; three sons, Jacob, William and George, and two daughters, Mrs. Charles Leaders and Mrs. George Horning. In 1882 Mr. Sutter became a resident of Sarpy county. He was one of our best citizens, industrious, enterprising, neighborly, just such a man as any community can ill afford to lose. He left a large property for distribution among his heirs, and better than this he left them an honorable name of which they may be justly proud. Mr. Sutter was a constant member of the Lutheran Reform church. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. William Huseman. Interment in Fairview cemetery.
