ORCHARD — Services for Esther M. Hauf, 84, of Orchard will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Peter Lutheran Church here with burial in Orchard Hill Cemetery and the Rev. Marcel Kohlmeyer officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the church under direction of Ashburn Funeral Home. She died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at the Plainview hospital. ——— Esther Mae (Trease) Hauf was born to Jacob and Mary (Bleakney) Trease on Sept. 20, 1928, in Orchard. On Oct. 3, 1948, Esther married Lawrence Rolan Hauf at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Orchard. They made their home south of Orchard, where they lived together for over 60 years. To this union three children were born: Linda, Kathy and Roger. She had great love and dedication to the farm and her family. Her hard work ethic was evident in her gardening, baking and her dairy herd. Not only was she a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, but she also cared deeply about her neighbors and community. As a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church, she was involved in the Ladies Aid, and she also belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, her parents, a granddaughter in infancy and siblings Bernard, Bernice and Ralph. Survivors include three children and their families, Linda and Bob Hixson of Howe, Texas, Kathy and Steve Belik of Orchard and Roger and Darla Hauf of Clearwater; 11 grandchildren, Leandra (Gene) Valdez, Angie (Lyle) Larsen, Melinda (Elliott) Valdez, Michelle (Gabe) Bender, Amber (Dave) Hardwick, Tiffany (Jay) Kraft, Aimee Hauf (Jeremiah Bartak), Brock Belik, Ashley and Aaron Hauf; 11 great-grandchildren, Kaelen and Ethan Valdez, Derek and Evan Larsen, Collin and Brittany Valdez, Gavin and Pryce Bender, Kaden and Parker Kraft and Bree Bartak; along with many relatives and friends.
