Funeral Services were held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 27, 1990 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton. Interment was held in the Hampton Cemetery. OBITUARY: Merle Bamesberger Merle W. Bamesberger, the son of John and Elizabeth (Troester) Bamesberger, was born at Hampton, Nebraska, on February 3, 1920, and passed away at Hastings, Nebraska, on February 25, 1990, at the age of 70 years and 22 days. He grew up on a farm near Hampton, and attended parochial school at Salem Church, and graduated from Aurora High School. On August 27, 1941, he was united in marriage to Lorraine Hansen, at the Danish Lutheran Church near Hampton. They farmed for 6 years, and then moved to Hampton, where he bought a blacksmith shop, which he operated for 33 years. In 1980, they bought a home in Park Rapids, Minnesota, and they lived between there and Hampton. Merle retired in 1982. He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Hampton, and had served as chairman of the Hampton Town Board for many years, he was also a charter member of the Hampton Lions Club. He had served as Secretary and Treasurer and President of the National Blacksmiths and Welders Association, and was also Secretary and President of the Nebraska Blacksmith and Welders Association. Merle was preceded in death by his parents. Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Lorraine of Hampton; 2 sons, Roger of Hampton and Gene of Denver; 2 daughters, Candyce Widness of Atlanta, Georgia and Beth Alberts of Lincoln; 2 brothers, Rolland of Hampton and Harry of Dallas City, Illinois; one sister Mildred Strong of York and 7 grandchildren.
