Loretta Ballard, age 66, of Giltner, died Sunday evening, July 14, 2002, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Thursday at the United Methodist Church in Giltner. Rev. Nora Leeds will officiate. Interment will be in the Giltner Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 P.M. on Wednesday at Higby-McQuiston Mortuary in Aurora. Condolences may be e-mailed to the family through the mortuary website at higbymortuary.com.
OBITUARY: LORETTA BALLARD
Loretta Fay Ballard, the daughter of Burt Phillip and Fay (Nelson) Juett, was born at Giltner, Nebraska on May 28, 1936 and died in Kearney, Nebraska on July 14, 2002, at the age of 66.
Loretta attended school at Phillips and graduated from Phillips High School in 1953. She attended Grand Island School of Beauty and after beauty school worked at shops in Alliance, Ord and Aurora.
Loretta was united in marriage to Donald (Red) Ballard on January 9, 1960 at Grand Island. After moving to Giltner in 1970, Loretta lived in Hamilton County the rest of her life. She was a kitchen helper at the Giltner school and then worked in the kitchen at the Hamilton Manor.
Loretta liked to dance, do embroidering and crafts.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and one sister.
Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Donald (Red) of Giltner; five children, Theresa Ray and her husband Charles of Giltner, Rod Ballard of Giltner, Kenneth Ballard of Grand Island, Barbara Ballard of Hampton and Thomas Ballard and his wife Laura of Aurora and 7 grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers, Bob Nelson of Sheridan, Wyoming and Lyle Juett of Grand Island and two sisters, Mary Lou Leymaster of Aurora and Sharon Marz of Minnesota.
