Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M., Thursday, August 23, 1984, at the Presbyterian United Church of Christ Church in Aurora. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Mabel Beatrice Bald Mabel Beatrice Bald, the daughter of Charles F. and Jannet (Russell) Green, was born on a farm near Bradshaw, Nebraska on September 18, 1890. At the age of two, death took her mother, younger brother and a sister. Her father married Sarah L. Willis and the family lived on farms they owned near Marquette, Nebraska, where Mabel grew to adulthood. She was graduated from Aurora Business College and worked in Valentine, Nebraska and Billings, Montana, before returning to Aurora to marry Harold F. Bald on December 21, 1911, at Omaha, Nebraska. They began farming and later ranching operations which were to occupy their lives for more than the next half century. Mrs. Bald was a member of the Federated Church of Aurora, where she was president of the Women’s Association and taught Sunday School. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, and served as worthy matron, and was honored for fifty years of membership in 1979. She was a member of the H.E.O. Club, served as its president for several years. She also served as a 4-H club leader. She was honored by Aksarben in 1977 for one hundred years of continuous family farm ownership. After the death of her husband in 1968, Mrs. Bald lived with her daughter, Gladys in California for several years and enjoyed extensive travel before returning to Aurora in 1982. She died Sunday, August 19, 1984 at Memorial Hospital in Aurora, following a brief illness, at the age of 93 years, 11 months and 1 day. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, one sister, one son Russel and one daughter Doris Andersen. Those who remain to cherish her memory are one daughter Gladys Mecham, of Aurora; six grandchildren, Steven Mecham of Aurora, Susan Mecham Hutchins of Houston, Texas, Laura Andersen Kohl of Omaha, Debra Andersen Webb of Cordell, Oklahoma, Robert H. Andersen, Jr. of Dallas Texas and Barbara Bald of Burwell; 6 great-grandchildren, Christopher and Todd Hutchins, Jason and Allison Mecham and Matthew and Nathan Webb; and other relatives and a host of friends.
