Elmer Bachman, age 77, of Giltner, died Saturday, April 12, 2008, at Hamilton Manor in Aurora.
A Memorial Graveside Services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, April 15th at the Giltner Cemetery. Rev. Marta Wheeler will officiate. There will be a luncheon served by the Doniphan American Legion following the service in Doniphan. There will be no Visitation. Memorials may be made to Doniphan American Legion Post #300. OBITUARY: ELMER BACHMAN
Elmer Ray Bachman, the son of Fredrick and Pearl (Omel) Bachman, was born on a farm near Giltner, Nebraska on October 8, 1930 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on April 12, 2008, at the age of 77.
Elmer grew up on a farm near Giltner and graduated from Giltner High School in 1946. Following graduation, he served in the Army in Germany during the Korean War. After the war he returned to Giltner to farm.
Elmer was united in marriage to Carolyn Jo Moffett on May 2, 1954 at Giltner. He farmed in the Giltner area all of his life. Jo passed away on October 16, 2005.
Elmer was a member of the Doniphan American Legion Post #300. He served on the Giltner Rural Volunteer Fire Department for 24 years. Elmer liked fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Edith Luthy and Leta Grace Bachman and five brothers, George Bachman, Harold Bachman, Carl Bachman, Earl Bachman and an infant brother.
Those left to cherish his memory are his four daughters, Vickie (Earl) Bieck of Giltner, Becky Kolb of Lincoln, Ronda (Kent) Jorgensen and Kelly Bachman all of Giltner; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren and sister, Viola Dolan of Huntington Beach, California.
