Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Friday, July 29, 1994 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery.
OBITUARY: Kenneth Baasch
Kenneth H. Baasch, the son of Alfred and Ingrid (Andreasen) Baasch, was born at Cairo, Nebraska, on September 21, 1921, and died at Aurora, Nebraska, on July 27, 1994, at the age of 72 years, 10 months, and 5 days.
He grew up and received his education at the Cairo Public Schools.
On May 29, 1944, he was united in marriage to Charlotte D. Wisong at Grand Island, Nebraska.
He served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II, from 1942 to 1946, with the 86th Blackhawk Division, serving in the European and South Pacific Theaters, and received the Bronze Star for Meritorious action in the European Theater.
He worked for his father in the family blacksmithing and welding business in Cairo, before and after the war, and then moved to Aurora where he was employed by Adolph Nielsen from 1948 to 1950. He then began his own blacksmithing and welding business in Hordville for one and a half years, then worked in Callaway for the Lexington Mill and Elevator Company, returning to Aurora and operated his own blacksmith and welding trade from 1952 until 1966. He began working for Sperry New Holland in Grand Island in 1967, until his retirement in 1983.
Kenny was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and belonged to the Lester S. Harter Post #42 of the Aurora American Legion. He worked with the American Legion Baseball program for many years as a coach, and was an avid duck and goose hunter.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother August.
Those who remain to cherish his memory are his wife Charlotte of Aurora; one son Larry of Omaha; one daughter Charlene Wendt of Lincoln; one brother Edwin of Cairo; 6 grandchildren; 3 step-grandchldren; 2 great-grandchilddren and one step-great grandchild.
