Funeral Services were held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, June 9, 1993 at the Aurora United Methodist Church. Interment was held in the Aurora Cemetery. OBITUARY: Shirley Asher Shirley Ann Asher, the daughter of Harry and Eunice (Cadwallader) Appleby, was born at Page, Nebraska, on July 23, 1931, and died at her home in Aurora, Nebraska, on June 6, 1993, at the age of 61 years, 10 months, and 13 days. She attended school at Inman, Nebraska, and graduated from Inman High School. On August 27, 1949, she was united in marriage to Robert Asher at Inman, Nebraska. He was in the grocery store business, and operated stores in O’Neill, Rapid City, South Dakota, South Sioux City, Nebraska, Alliance, Winner, South Dakota, and in 1970 they moved to Aurora, where they operated the Red & White Grocery, and she was involved in bookkeeping for the store until it was sold in 1988. Shirley was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, and belonged to the Aurora V.F.W. Auxiliary, where she served as treasurer for 3 years, and was senior vice-president in 1993. She was preceded in death by her father. Those who remain to cherish her memory are her husband Bob of Aurora; 3 sons, Terry and his wife Kathryn of Norwalk, Iowa, Randy and his wife Shari of Aurora, and Mark of Stewart, Florida; 3 daughters, Jan Dick and her husband Ed of Aurora, Mardell Jasnowski and her husband John of Aurora, and Sandi Sweeney and her husband Doug of Grand Island; 3 brothers, Bob Appleby of Hadar, Fred Appleby and Dick Appleby, both of O’Neill’ 2 sisters, Helen Asher of Page, and Doris Nissen of Norfolk; her mother Eunice Appleby of Inman, and 11 grandchildren, Erin, Emily & Alexandra Asher, Sara Asher, Katie & Jamie Dick, Sophia, Evan & Myles Jasnowski, and Chelsie & Shane Sweeney.
