Kermit Arnold, age 89, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, September 11, 2002, at Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 13th at the Higby-McQuiston Chapel in Aurora. Rev. Brian Kottas will officiate. Interment will be in the Phillips Cemetery. OBITUARY: KERMIT ARNOLD Kermit Landis Arnold, the son of Casper and Pearl (Martin) Arnold, was born in Fredricksburg, Indiana on May 4, 1913 and died in Grand Island, Nebraska on September 11, 2002, at the age of 89. His family moved to a farm near Giltner in 1914 and in 1929, they moved to a farm near Phillips. Kermit graduated from Phillips High School. Kermit was united in marriage to Lenora Schirkofsky on May 4, 1941 at Grand Island. They lived in Phillips and other various Nebraska towns. Kermit worked for Missouri Valley Construction for many years. They retired in 1978 to Ogallala and remained there until 1997 when they moved back to Grand Island. Lenora passed away on January 4, 2000. Kermit was a member of the Keystone Masonic Lodge #62 in Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife; son, Frank; two brothers, John and Bruce Arnold and two sisters, Marie Potter and Wilma Otto. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, James C. Arnold of Grand Island; 2 grandsons; 2 great-grandchildren and two sisters, Ruth Rogers of Colorado and Mary Scott of California.
