Daniel A. Ewoldt, 88, of Grand Island, died Thursday, April 27, 2006 at his home.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. Randy Fett will officiate.
Burial will be at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Mr. Ewoldt was born on July 25, 1917 in Hall County to Herman and Matilda (Krueger) Ewoldt.
Survivors of the immediate family include four sons and three daughters-in-law, Ron & Cathy Ewoldt, Roger Ewoldt, and Danny & Sue Ewoldt all of Grand Island, and Kenny & Debbie Ewoldt of Phoenix, Arizona; three daughters and two son-in-law, Shirley & Marvin Keller, and Connie & Larry Tylkowski of Grand Island, and Jacque Ewoldt of Grand Island; two sisters, Maxine Eggleston of San Clemente, California, and Lorraine Bernhardt of Wichita, Kansas.
Additional survivors include 19 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren, and 3 step-greatgrandchildren.
Mr. Ewoldt received his education in Hall County. After his education he worked on the family farm.
He married Evelyn Danburg on June 21, 1939 in Grand Island. The couple moved into Grand Island in 1939.
Mr. Ewoldt was employed by Det Meves for 39 years, first driving the Storz Beer truck, and then working as the maintenance man at Meves Bowl.
Mr. Ewoldt enjoyed hunting, working in his yard, baseball, feeding the squirrels, taking care of his many dogs, and eating breakfast at the Farmers Daughter Café. He loved spending time with his entire family.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, and a life-long member of the Platte-Duetsche
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Evelyn in 1996; one son, Gary; one granddaughter, Rhonda; three brothers, Carl, Rudy, and Ed and by two sisters, Lillian, and Eloise.
