Beverly J. (Bev) Schroeder of Grand Island died on Easter Sunday April 16, 2006 at Saint Francis Hospital. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Wednesday, April 19 at Calvary Lutheran Church (1304 North Custer Avenue). The Rev. Sheri Lodel will officiate. Burial will be at Grand Island Cemetery with a luncheon following at the church. Visitation will be held from on Tuesday, April 18 from 4-8 pm at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home (601 North Webb Road). Bev was born November 9, 1933 in Omaha, the youngest of nine children to Cecil and Bessie Smith. Bev received her education in Omaha. She married Mervin J. (Shorty) Schroeder in Omaha on September 20, 1953. As a military spouse her and the family were stationed with Shorty in: Canada, Colorado, New Mexico, Iceland and Ohio, returning to Grand Island in 1971. Her employment in Grand Island was from 1975 to 2003 at Super Bowl (previously Meves Bowl) where she was involved with many aspects of operating the centers. Her work as a league record coordinator at the centers made her a vital part of the local bowling community. Survivors of her immediate family include one son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Jessica Schroeder of Waldorf, Maryland; daughter and son-in-law, Jody and Randy Rawlings of Grand Island; daughter and fiancé, Kim Schroeder and Shawn Hammeren of Grand Island. One brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Bonnie Smith of Omaha; and sisters, Betty Marcinski and Helen Kelso, also of Omaha. Additional survivors include grandchildren Kristi Schroeder of Aurora, David Schroeder of Waldorf, Maryland and Shelby Rawlings of Grand Island.
