HANS, Elmer H.


Elmer H. Hans, 81, of Grand Island died Friday April 7, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday at Peace Lutheran Church. The Rev. William Voelker will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday from 4 to 8 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with the family greeting friends from 4 to 6 P.M. Mr. Hans was born October 3, 1924, at Surprise, NE to John and Anna (Abraham) Hans. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Evelyn of Grand Island; two daughters and sons-in-law, Judy and Myron Kouba of Kearney and Deborah and Ron Morse of Grand Island; one sister, Ella Sanley of Rising City, NE; two brothers, Lawrence Hans of Lincoln and Raymond Hans of Topeka, KS. Additional survivors include two step-granddaughters; five great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Elmer married Evelyn Heitman on November 6, 1949. The couple lived in Central City where he worked on a ranch. In 1952 they moved to Grand Island where he worked for Diers Ford and Abbot Alfalfa Mill. He began working for Harrington Feed Yards in 1959 and worked there until they closed. Elmer then worked part-time at the alfalfa mill until his health began to fail. He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, the Platte Duetsche and Eagles. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister and seven brothers.
