STAHLNECKER, Robert D.


Robert D. Stahlnecker, 83, of Grand Island died Tuesday April 4, 2006, at St. Francis Medical Center. Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Quandt will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. with family greeting friends from 4 to 6 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Stahlnecker was born June 17, 1922, at Grand Island to Dee F. and Opal (Gross) Stahlnecker. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Virginia of Grand Island; two sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy D. and Judy Stahlnecker of Lowell, Arkansas and Jerry Bob and Janice Stahlnecker of Grand Island; two daughters and a son-in-law, Sandra Kay and Charlie Bramble of Grand Island and Cathy Mae Stahlnecker of St. Libory; one sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Lewis Cole of Grand Island. Additional survivors include nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Robert grew up and attended school in Grand Island graduating from Grand Island Senior High School. He entered the U.S. Army during World War II and served from December 1942 to November of 1945. He married Virginia Kirkpatrick on August 17, 1946, at Norton, Kansas. Robert worked as a delivery driver for Fairmont Foods for over 20years. He then went into business with his sons forming S&S Siding and was actively involved with the business up until the time of his death. He enjoyed all sports; especially football, bowling, traveling, camping, fishing and visiting with people. He was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by one brother.
