Carlotta Aguilar, 86, of Grand Island, died Saturday March 11, 2006, at her home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The Rev. Richard Piontkowski will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to8 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with a 7 P.M. vigil for the deceased. Mrs. Aguilar was born November 4, 1919, at Coladas, Jalisco, Mexico to Jesus and Maria (Garcia) Salinas. Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Stanley Aguilar of Grand Island; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Stan and Rose Aguilar, Charlie Aguilar, and Tom and Leona Aguilar all of Grand Island; two daughters, Helen Morrow and Alice Aguilar both of Grand Island; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Josephine and Joe Acosta of Phoenix, AZ, Jenny Flores of Denver, and Sophie and Bob Galvan of Omaha; one brother and sister-in-law, Phil and Nellie Salinas of Grand Island. Additional survivors include 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Aguilar moved to New Mexico as a child and later to Walsenburg, CO. She came to Grand Island with her family where she received her education. She married Stanley Aguilar on November 12, 1938, at Grand Island where the couple would make their home. Carlotta worked in the food service department of the Grand Island Veteran’s Hospital until her retirement in 1982. She was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral parish. She was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and three grandchildren.
