Robert H. Berryman, 85, of Grand Island, died Saturday, February 4, 2006 at the Wedgewood Care Center in Grand Island.
As per his request, Mr. Berryman’s body will be donated to the Anatomical Board of the State of Nebraska. There will be no services.
Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Berryman was born on December 23, 1920 at Chicago, Illinois to Robert and Eugenia (Ladenbach) Berryman.
Survivors include two sons, Thomas Berryman of Fountain Hills, Arizona, and James Berryman of Mesa, Arizona; and one daughter, Elizabeth Simons of Dunn Loring, Virginia.
Additional survivors include 6 grandchildren.
Mr. Berryman grew up in Chicago and graduated for Von Stuben High School. He later graduated from Northwestern University.
He married Marian Ellert on October 16, 1943 in Chicago.
Mr. Berryman served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II. He received the Bronze Star and the Combat Infantry Badge.
Robert was Chicago area manager of the Kroger Stores. Upon moving to Grand Island, he was the owner of the South Locust IGA grocery store.
He was an avid golfer, bridge player and extensive foreign traveler. He was also a private pilot.
Mr. Berryman was a member of the First Presbyterian Church; a 40 year member of the Grand Island Rotary Club, and Riverside Golf Club, and a member of the Saddle Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2003.
