SCHWIEGER, Ella Mae

Ella Mae Schwieger, 85 of Grand Island died Sunday, January 29, 2006, at her home. Services will be Wednesday at 2:00 P.M. at St. Pauls Lutheran Church. The Rev. Jack Eske will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday with family greeting friends from 6 -7 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Mrs. Schwieger was born June 15, 1920, at Crook, Colorado to Charles and Emma (Hellbusch) Moyer. Survivors of the immediate family include three sons and two daughters-in-law, Marvin “Buck” Friend of Grand Island, Robert and Karen Friend of Venice, FL and Ron and Pat Schwieger of Grand Island; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn and Don Mehring and Sharon and Don Ledgerwood all of Grand Island; three sisters, Irene Kopystynski of Omaha, Geraldine Johnson of Dannebrog and Artherine Wagner of Council Bluffs, IA. Additional survivors include twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Ella Mae grew up and attended school in Belgrade. She married Alfred D. Schwieger on July 12, 1948, at Omaha. The couple made their home in Grand Island. Mrs. Schwieger enjoyed bowling in senior league, playing bingo and also enjoyed many sports. She especially enjoyed the time she would spend with her family. She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alfred in 2002; one sister, Dorothy Walgren and an infant son.
