Velma M. Ewoldt, 79, of Grand Island, died Thursday, January 19, 2006 at the St. Francis Medical Center. Funeral services will be on Tuesday at 11:00 A.M. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. Randy Fett will officiate. Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery. Visitation will be on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M., with the family present to greet friends from 4:00 until 6:00 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Mrs. Ewoldt was born on February 14, 1926 in Hall County, Nebraska to Oscar & Mattie (Worlien) Kent. Survivors of the immediate family include three sons and daughters-in-law, Delbert & Patty Ewoldt of Julesburg, Colorado, Robert & Kay Ewoldt of Omaha, and Michael & JoAnn Ewoldt of Grand Island; one daughter and son-in-law, Janice & Jerry Stahlnecker of Grand Island; one brother and sister-in-law, Orin & Paulette Kent of Grand Island; and one sister, Delores Wynn of Hastings. Additional survivors include 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Velma received her education in Hall County and Grand Island. She married Delmar Ewoldt on September 4, 1947 in Moorhead, Minnesota. Mrs. Ewoldt was employed as a cook and matron at the Hall County Jail. She was then employed as the Deli manager at the South Locust Jack & Jill. Mrs. Ewoldt then worked with the Y.W.C.A. Foster Grandparent program for 11 years. She enjoyed crocheting, and spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and her pets. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. Mrs. Ewoldt was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; and three brothers, Richard Kent, Duane Kent, and Oscar Kent Jr.
