Melva P. Duering, 75, of Grand Island, died Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at the Hamilton Manor in Aurora. Memorial services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Dan Bremer will officiate. Burial will be at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Duering was cremated, and there will be no visitation. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Duering was born on February 8, 1930 at Wilcox, Nebraska to Ed and Anna (Stuhmer) Lippstreu. Survivors of the immediate family include two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard & Marcia Duering of Fairbury, Scott & Jan Duering of Lincoln; one daughter and son-in-law, Kris & Randy Minnick of Grand Island. Additional survivors include 8 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Duering received her education in Hildreth and graduated from Hildreth High School. She attended Kearney State College. She married Earl Duering on June 30, 1949 in Hildreth. Mrs. Duering was employed at Ben’s Rexall Drug, and at the Salvation Army Store in Grand Island. She loved to garden and read. Mrs. Duering was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Lawrence, and Marvin.
