Donald A. Schipman, 70, of St. Libory died Tuesday, December 20, 2005, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 2:00 P.M. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Worms. The Rev. Dr. Dan Molyneux will officiate. Burial will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery adjacent to the church.
Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island.
Mr. Schipman was born June 26, 1935, in Merrick County to Reinhardt and Frieda (Scheer) Schipman.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Roberta of St. Libory; two sons and daughters-in-law, Louis R. and Jane Schipman of Oklahoma City, OK and Danel E. and Lori Schipman of Orlando, FL; a daughter and son-in-law, Patricia S. and Greg Schwartz of rural St. Libory; one brother, Edwin Schipman of St. Libory; two sisters-in-law, Betty Schipman of St. Libory and Louise Hunnicutt of Giltner; and a brother-in-law and his wife, Bryce and Carolyn Ewoldt of Grand Island.
Additional survivors include four granddaughters, Ashley and Melissa Schipman and Emily and Sara Schwartz; and three grandsons, Lucas Schipman and Andrew and Robert Schwartz.
Don received his education at Zion Lutheran School in Worm and graduated from St. Paul High School in 1953.
He married Roberta K. Ewoldt on December 29, 1962, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island.
They farmed and raised cattle on a farm north of Worms. They received the 100 Year Farm Family Award in 1980.
Don worked in the construction of modular homes for many years, retiring from Atlantic Homes Corp. in Central City in June of 2000.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Worms and had served as a church trustee.
He was a member of the Platt Duetsch Society and belonged to several square dance clubs.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Schipman; an infant sister; and one grandson, Randall Schipman.
