James (Jim) A. Wentz, 56, of Grand Island, died Saturday, December 3, 2005 in Grand Island.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 6:30 P.M. at Gollaher Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church. The Rev. Nancy Lambert will officiate.
Cremation will follow the service at Westlawn Memorial Park Crematory. Burial of the ashes will take place at a later date in Minnesota.
Visitation will be on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home.
Mr. Wentz was born on February 22, 1949 in Fargo, North Dakota to Gary & Irene (Rustad) Wentz.
Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Armandina of Grand Island; two sons, Estevan Sanchez-Wentz of Grand Island, and Douglas Wentz of Arizona; two daughters, Lisa Sanchez-Krueger and her husband Everett of Omaha, and Jessica Lochthowe of Fargo, North Dakota; and one brother, Richard Wentz of Moorhead, Minnesota.
Additional survivors include his grandson, Aaron Sanchez-Krueger; and two nephews, Steve and Jeff.
Mr. Wentz received his education in Moorhead, Minnesota.
He married Jeanne Olson in 1970. Mr. Wentz attended Moorhead State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in Math. He then lived in Bismarck, North Dakota from 1971 until 1974. During this time, he worked for two years at Sherwin-Williams Paint Company, and then worked one year for Pitney-Bowes. In September 1974, he moved to Minot, North Dakota where he worked for Pitney-Bowes until 1978. In 1979, he began selling insurance. In 1983-84, he worked as a land man for an oil company. In 1985, he moved to Williston, North Dakota, and sold insurance for two years. He then attended Law School in Grand Forks, and graduated with his law degree from the University of North Dakota. After his graduation, he moved to Jamestown, North Dakota where he was employed at the Joe Larson Law firm from 1989-1996.
He married Armandina Sanchez on August 25, 1990 in Greeley, Colorado.
Mr. Wentz was then employed at the Larry Kropp Law firm in Jamestown from 1996-2000.
The family moved to Grand Island in the spring of 2000, where he was employed at the Truell, Murray, and Maser Law firm.
Mr. Wentz enjoyed skeet and trap shooting. He was an avid hunter, and also played racquetball. He also volunteered with the Shooting Club at Northwest High School.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
