LETA LOUISE BAUMANN (Halbeisen) 99, died November 21, 2005 in Jupiter, Florida.
There will be a gathering of family and friends from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home with a prayer and remembrance service at 6 P.M. Interment will be on December 10 in Litchfield, Nebraska where her ashes will be laid to rest with other relatives. She will be remembered at the Hirt Family Reunion in Fremont, Ohio in July 2006.
She was the youngest of 14 children born to Charles and Elizabeth (Hirt) Halbeisen at Litchfield, Nebraska.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Alan L. and Mary Ann Williams of Jupiter, FL.
Additional survivors include many Halbeisen Family and Hirt Family descendants living in Nebraska, Ohio and throughout the country.
Leta graduated from Litchfield High School in 1924 and following her marriage in 1928 to S. Albert Williams in Broken Bow NE, moved to Colorado where she lived for 20 years. From there she moved first to Grants Pass and Eugene, Oregon and then to Walnut Creek, California. Most recently she relocated to Florida with her son and daughter-in- law.
She had many occupations over the years: A schoolteacher in a one-room school, home daycare, retail sales, a high school cook and a homemaker. She was a life member of the Rossmoor Unit of the American Legion Auxiliary of Walnut Creek, CA, the Tice Valley Methodist Church and the Eugene Methodist Church. She loved baseball, was an avid Oakland A's fan, she enjoyed knitting, crocheting and crafts, and traveling to visit family and friends.
Leta’s warm and outgoing personality made her a major catalyst who bridged the generations of her family.
Leta was preceded in death by two husbands, S. Albert Williams and Lee Baumann, and a son, Philip Franklin Williams.
