Pamela M. Johansen, 50, of Grand Island died Sunday, September 25, 2005, at her home. At her request, Mrs. Johansen’s body was cremated. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 1, 2005, at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Cheryl Lamb will officiate. There will be no committal service. A gathering of family and friends will take place from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. A rosary service will be led by Rev. Walter Phelan at 7 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Johansen was born November 16, 1954, at Spalding, NE to C.V. and Margaret (Donovan) Stroup. Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, Ron of Grand Island; her son, Zak Johansen of Grand Island; her parents of Grand Island; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Bill and June Stroup of Valentine, NE and Bob Stroup of Rapid City, SD; one sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Terry Flakus of Kansas City, MO. Additional survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. Pam attended school in Spalding, Winner, SD, Beatrice, NE and Grand Island. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1981 and a Bachelor of Arts in Education in 1983 from Kearney State College. She received her Master of Arts in Education degree in July 1992 from the University of Nebraska at Kearney. She married Ron Johansen on July 27, 1979, at Central City, NE. She taught in the Grand Island elementary school system for several years. Pam enjoyed being with family, reading, flower gardening, and was active in many sports. She was a long time supporter of Nebraska volleyball.
