Forrest J. Pollard, 80, of Grand Island, died Thursday, September 15, 2005 at the University Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Memorial services will be on Saturday, September 24, 2005 at 11:00 A.M. at the Messiah Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Jack Eske will officiate. A private family inurnment will follow the service at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Forrest (Frosty) J. Pollard was born on February 6, 1925 in Phillipsburg, Kansas to Jesse and Hilda (Kennedy) Pollard. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Judy & Al Beckler of Grand Island; three son’s and daughters-in-law, Jerry & Elaine Pollard of Grand Island, Jim & Kathy Pollard of Overland Park, Kansas, and Bob & Linda Pollard of Omaha; a son-in-law, Jim Livingston of Grand Island; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. After graduating from high school in Phillipsburg, he married Irma E. Mettenbrink on January 9, 1945. The couple made their home and raised their children in Grand Island. Forrest served his community for over 30 years as a real estate broker and a registered appraiser, as well as a real estate instructor for Central Community College. He was the former founder/owner of F.J. Pollard and Associates of Grand Island and was most recently an associate broker with First Brokers Real Estate in Grand Island. In 1976, Forrest was elected president of the Grand Island Board of Realtors, Realtor of the year in 1981, and a Realtor of Distinction in 1990. He also served as director, regional vice-president and chairman of various committees for the Nebraska Realtors Association. In 1992, Forrest was appointed to the Nebraska Real Estate Commission as a broker member. He was a faithful member of Messiah Lutheran Church for 55 years. He served on the Church Council, Task Force, Stewardship Campaign, Youth committee, and Confirmation Mentor Program. Forrest also served and supported the Chrysalis Lutheran Homes and Bethphage Foundation. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Tehema Shrine Temple and the Central Nebraska Shrine Club. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Irma; his daughter, Sharon Livingston; one grandson, Tom, and one brother Darrell.
