Leslie G. Noe, 90, of Grand Island, formerly of Dixon, Nebraska, died Tuesday, September 13, 2005 at the St. Francis Medical Center.
Funeral services will be on Saturday at 2:00 P.M. at the United Methodist Church in Laurel, Nebraska. The Rev. J.C. Browne will officiate.
Burial will be at the Eastview Cemetery at Allen, Nebraska.
Visitation will be on Friday from 4:30 until 7:00 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home in Grand Island, and from 12 noon until the time of service at the church in Laurel.
Mr. Noe was born on January 29, 1915 near Allen, Nebraska to Fred and Emma (Royce) Noe.
Survivors of the immediate family include two sons and daughters-in-laws, Verdel & Sandy Noe of Grand Island, Paul & Carol Noe of Waco, Texas; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynette & Ted Lawson of Waco, Texas, and Joelyn & Michael Malone of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Additional survivors include 7 grandchildren; one sister, Grace Green of Allen, Nebraska; five sisters-in-law, Ruby Noe of Nampa, Idaho, Mary Noe of Nebraska City, Jean Armstrong of Ponca, Genevieve Frerichs of Enumclaw,Washington, and Madonna & Frank Randolph of Ventura, California, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Noe received his education at the Clark Center School through the 10th grade, and graduated from Dixon High School in 1933. He attended Wayne State College, and also the University of Nebraska where he studied farm operations.
He married Frances Armstrong on August 16, 1939 in Ponca, Nebraska.
Mr. Noe took over the family farm, and farmed there all his life. He raised purebred milking shorthorn cattle, and sold Cargill Seeds. Mr. Noe was very active in the Farm Bureau, 4-H, and was an early leader in soil conservation in Dixon, County.
Mr. Noe also enjoyed planting trees, and had a pond that everyone in the community could use for fishing.
He was a lifelong member of the Dixon United Methodist Church. He was also very active with the Gideon’s Society.
Mr. Noe moved to Grand Island in 1996, and following his wife’s death in 2000, was cared for by his son and daughter-in-law, Verdel and Sandy Noe.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elaine; three brothers, Robert, Ralph, and Oliver Noe; five sisters, Martha Noe, Mary Milner, Florence Malcolm, Esther Brandt, and Emma Shortt.
