Ella M. Bollesen, 91, of Fairmont, formerly of Grand Island died Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at Fairview Manor in Fairmont. Services will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Grand Island. The Rev. Randy Fett will officiate. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 P.M. Sunday at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Mrs. Bollesen was born December 1, 1913, in Hall County to Cornelius and Marie (Blohm) Lorenzen. Survivors of the immediate family include her daughter, Jeanette ‘Jan’ Powers of York; a daughter-in-law and her husband, Barb and Frank McNelis of Grand Island; a brother and sister-in-law, Max and Norma Lorenzen of Grand Island; a sister-in-law and her husband, Anita and Billy Peters Jr. of Worms; and two step-children, Vernon Bollesen of San Jose, CA and Eleanor Hatchell of Minneapolis, MN. Additional survivors include nine grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Ella attended school in rural Hall County. As an adult, she returned to school to receive her GED. She married Fred Heins on February 16, 1938, in Grand Island. They worked the family farm along with raising dairy cows and poultry. Ella also assisted Fred with the DeKalb seed corn business. Fred died in 1967. Ella married Herluf Bollesen on May 23, 1970, in Grand Island. Mr. Bollesen died in 1997. She was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church, St. Pauls Lutheran Ladies Anna Circle and the Farm Bureau. She was active in 4-H and was a former 4-H leader. She was also a member in extension clubs in Hall and Merrick counties. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands; a son, Kenneth Heins; a son-in-law, Bill Powers; and two great-grandsons, Luke and Tyler Heins.
