Wilbur Rief, 76, of Grand Island, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005 at Beverly Healthcare at Fullerton, Nebraska. Graveside committal services will be on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. at the Grand Island City Cemetery. The Rev. David Zelmer will officiate. Mr. Rief was cremated and there will be no visitation. Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Rief was born on September 30, 1928 in Grand Island to William and Dora (Ritter) Rief. Survivors of the immediate family include two sisters, Catherine Miller of Wood River, Evelyn Whitaker of Lufkin, Texas; two brothers, David Rief of Grand Island, and William Rief of Fullerton. Mr. Rief received his education at District #4. He then farmed with his father on the family farm. Mr. Rief served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from October 1952 until 1954. He was stationed in Japan. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Dorothy Holmstedt.
