Mabel (Boltz) Werner, 96, of Omaha, formerly of Grand Island died Monday, July 18, 2005 at the Montclair Nursing and Rehab Center in Omaha.
Funeral services will be on Friday at 1:30 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. David Zelmer will officiate.
Visitation will be on Thursday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Burial will be at the Grand Island City Cemetery.
Mrs. Werner was born on July 3, 1909 in Grand Island to Richard and Celia (Neubert) Boltz.
Survivors of the immediate family include one son and daughter-in-law, Larry & Judy Werner of Omaha, and her sister, Irene Knuth of Grand Island.
She was preceded in death by his husband, Walter R. Werner, and her son, Walter Jr.
Also left to cherish her memory are four grandchildren, Richard Werner of Lincoln, Renee (Werner) Schriever, Craig Werner, and Nicole (Werner) Darnold, all of Omaha; and seven great-grandchildren.
Mabel attended school at District 23.
She was united in marriage to Walter Werner on June 16, 1932 in Grand Island. The couple farmed southwest of Grand Island until 1961. Then they moved into Grand Island where Mabel worked in the cafeteria at Senior High School until 1971. She retired in 1975, and the couple moved to Johnson Lake in Elwood. In 1982, they moved back to Grand Island.
Mabel was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church. She enjoyed fishing, crafts, playing cards and spending time with her family.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; a daughter-in-law, Mary (Alison) Werner; two sisters, Adelia Beberniss and Hattie Reher; a brother John Boltz; and a sister and brother in infancy.
