Velma R. Wilsey, 79, of Grand Island, died Thursday, May 12, 2005 at the St. Francis Medical Center. Memorial services will be on Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Scott Jones and the Rev. Tim Rust will officiate. Mrs. Wilsey was cremated and there will be no visitation. Burial will be at a later date at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Wilsey was born on December 29, 1925 at Dickens, Nebraska to Charlie and Ethel (Moses) Sanders. Survivors of the immediate family include 5 sons and 4 daughters-in-law, Raymond & Lynda Wilsey of Nampa, Idaho, Robert Wilsey of Grand Island and his wife Hanh who is in Vietnam, Fred & Theda Wilsey Jr. of Rapid City, South Dakota, Gary Wilsey of Beatrice, and Patrick & Gayle Wilsey of Grand Island; 2 daughters and son-in-law, Deb & Ron Kalkwarf of Aurora, and Patricia Wilsey of Grand Island; one brother, Kenneth Sanders of Lincoln; two sisters, Violet Warner of Eagle River, Alaska, and Lavon Oman of Lander, Wyoming. Additional survivors include 10 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wilsey received in education in Minden. She married Fred Wilsey on June 11, 1946 in Norton, Kansas. Velma enjoyed working word puzzles, reading, shopping, watching game shows on T.V. and spending time with friends. She also enjoyed working with the women’s group at the Assembly of God Church. She especially enjoyed her Thursday morning women’s Bible study. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1999; one daughter, Judith Wilsey; 4 brothers, and 4 sisters.
