DAKOTA CITY | Elizabeth G. "Betty" Kesselring, 92, of Dakota City passed away Thursday, Dec. 20, 2012, at a South Sioux City care center. Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Becker–Hunt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Anthony Espinosa officiating. Burial will be in Dakota City Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 10 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Following the service at the cemetery, there will be a lunch and gathering with the family at the Hy-Vee Club Room in South Sioux City. Betty was born Nov. 18, 1920 in rural Hamill, S.D., the daughter of August and Anna M. (Simmons) Zastrow. She had lived in Utah, but spent most of her life in Chamberlain, S.D., where she was employed at Al’s Oasis. She married Howard Kesselring in August of 1949 in Chamberlain, S.D. He died in June of 1977 in Chamberlain. She moved to South Sioux City 1984, where she was employed at I.G.A. and Park Plaza Motel until retiring. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church in South Sioux City. Survivors include a son, John and his wife, Joan McNeil of McCook Lake, S.D.; a daughter, Marilee and her husband, Edward Goethals of Dakota City; two twin brothers, Matt (Fern) Zastrow of Sioux Falls, S.D., and Joe (Vera) Zastrow of Wessington Springs, S.D., five grandchildren, Michael, Dayton and Derek McNeil, Dayna (Victor) Lipscomb and Alieca (Craig) Clift; and eight great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a son, Howard Jr.; four brothers; five sisters; and two grandchildren, Marisa Goethals and Kelly McNeil. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren.
