MORSE, Steven Jay


Steven Jay Morse, 50, of Lincoln, formerly of Winside, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 at a Lincoln hospital. Services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 12 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Wayne. The Rev. Mark Beran and Deacon Pat Gross will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday, Dec. 11 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m. at the church. Steven Jay Morse was born May 31, 1962, at Idaho Falls, Idaho to Ralph Jr.(Jay) and Marilyn (Koenig) Morse. He attended school in Winside, graduating from Winside High School in 1981. He attended Metro Community College in Omaha and later Southeast Community College in Lincoln, before beginning his career in nursing. He was a LPN with various nursing homes in the Lincoln and was a care provider. Steven loved music, singing and playing the piano. While in high school, he participated in various music competitions including all state music contest, earning many awards over the years. Steven has been in ill health for many of the past years. Survivors include his mother, Marilyn Morse of Winside; a sister, Wendy (Kevin) Light of Omaha; a brother, Brian (Rebecca) Morse of Merna; two nieces, Jadyn Light and Grace Morse; two nephews, Brandon Light and Adam Morse; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and father, Ralph in 2005. Pallbearers will be Lyle Koenig, Larry Koenig, Loren Koenig, Kory Koenig, Peter Koenig, Donald Prokop and Michael Campion. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Wayne. Hasemann Funeral Home in Wayne is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be directed to the family.
