Wirth Wilson, 88, of Grand Island, died Thursday, April 28, 2005 at Beverly Healthcare at Park Place.
Funeral services will be on Monday at 10:30 A.M. at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. The Rev. Jerry Quandt will officiate.
Burial will be at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Monday from 8:00 A.M. until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Wilson was born on May 16, 1916 at Verdel, Nebraska to Claude and Ada (Ludwig) Wilson.
Survivors of the immediate family include 6 sons and 5 daughters-in-law, Phillip Wilson of Sagauch, Colorado, Hershel (Shorty) & Jo Wilson of Bassett, Alvin & Nadine Wilson of Cedar Edge, Colorado, Bobby & Audrey Wilson of Ainsworth, Lynn & JoAnn Wilson of Bassett, and Ray & Betty Wilson of Newport, Nebraska; 5 daughters and 4 sons-in-law, Alice & Melvin Woodward of Sidney, Arkansas, Alta & Merle Kettleborough of Taylor, Nebraska, Vivian & Lorrin Thomas of Bassett, Ada & Randy Scott of Taylor, and Lou Ann Samora of Alamosa, Colorado; two step-daughters and son-in-law, Gloria Jean Evans of Grand Island, and Charlene & Jack Dier of Yankton, South Dakota.
Additional survivors include 42 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Wilson was raised and received his education in Verdel, Nebraska. He married Daisy Hursell on May 26, 1937 in Verdel.
Mr. Wilson farmed until 1950. He was then employed on ranches near Long Pine and Bassett, Nebraska.
He moved to Grand Island in 1971.
He married Doris Wilson on December 22, 1973 in Grand Island.
Mr. Wilson was then employed by Berkley Pump in Grand Island.
He enjoyed playing cards, woodworking, and repairing lawnmowers.
Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by his parents, his second wife, Doris; two sons, Lewis Wilson and an infant; one daughter and son-in-law, Wilma & Lonnie Lanz; and one sister, Lois Nielsen.
