SANCHEZ, Pete, Jr.


Pete Sanchez Jr. 73, of Grand Island, died Friday, April 1, 2005 at the St. Francis Medical Center. Funeral services will be on Wednesday at 10:00 A.M. at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The Rev. Phil Flott will officiate. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 P.M. with a 7:00 P.M. rosary at Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Sanchez was born on December 7, 1931 in Grand Island to Pedro and Juana (Torres) Sanchez. Survivors of the immediate family include one brother, Isais (Chino) Sanchez of Grand Island; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Mary & John Ramirez of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Emily & Ben Valdez of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Pat & Joe Jess Galvan of Grand Island. Additional survivors include numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Sanchez received his education in Grand Island and graduated from Grand Island Senior High in 1950. He then served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from January 1952 until December 1953. Mr. Sanchez then returned to Grand Island and was employed as a printer at Augustine Printing Company, Albee Printing Company, and then Aguilar Printing Company. He retired in March of 1993. Mr. Sanchez was a member of St. Mary’s Cathedral, the V.F.W., Eagles Club, and the Knights of Columbus. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Frank Sanchez and Mike Sanchez; and two sisters, Rose Jones, and Flora Valdez.
