SCHMIDT, Janevieve R.

Janevieve R. Schmidt, 80 years of age from Minden, Nebraska died on Monday, November 26, 2012 at the Bethany Home in Minden. Jan was born on May 12, 1932 in Franklin, NE to Robert and Martha (Janssen) Bach. She grew up in the Franklin area and attended Franklin Public Schools. On November 16, 1948 she married Ilert Schmidt at the Zion Lutheran parsonage west of Macon. The day after their marriage Ilert reported for duty in the U.S. Army. After Ilert returned from the service in 1953 they lived in Franklin and later moved to Minden in 1966. Jan was an active member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden. She was a quilter at the church, enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and friends. Jan loved being around her children and grandchildren. Survivors include son Delvin Schmidt and his wife, Julie of Minden; daughter, Jana Klusman of Hastings; five grandchildren, Brandon Schmidt and his wife, Tiffany, Brian Schmidt and his wife, Ashley, Megan Schmidt, Ryan Klusman and Ashley Klusman; three great grandchildren, Alex, Candace and Sophia Schmidt; brother, Wayne Bach and his wife, Sheryl of Franklin; two sisters, Marian Skeen of Twin Falls, Idaho and Wilma Heath of Franklin. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ilert, two sons, Lonnie and Laroy and brother, Wallace Bach. Funeral services will be on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Graveside services will be at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery west of Macon at 1:45 p.m. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Thursday from 3 - 6 p.m.
