OLSEN, Kay

Kay Olsen, 74 years of age from Minden, NE died on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Kearney County Health Services-Hospital. Kay was born on August 1, 1938 in Minden to William and Lillian (Arent) Doyle. She spent her early years in Upland and then moved to Hastings. She graduated from Hastings High School in 1955 and then graduated from Kearney State College. On June 7, 1959 she married Russell Olsen and they lived near Minden. Kay was active in the family farm operation. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Minden, member of the Kearney County Genealogy Society and the Extension Club. She enjoyed yard work, playing bridge, crossword puzzles and Jeopardy. Kay was very proud of her children and grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Russell of Minden; son David M. Olsen of Minden; two daughters, Krista Potter and her husband, Ty and Jennifer Olsen all of Lincoln; four grandchildren, Kendall DeJonge and his wife, Katy, Jake Olsen, Nick Scheel and his wife, Kelsi and Angie Scheel; great grandson, Morrison Scheel and half sister, Dianne Blank of Fairfax Station, Virginia. She is preceded in death by her parents. Memorial services will on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Minden with Rev. Nancy Lambert officiating. Burial will be prior to the memorial service in the Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home on Tuesday from 3-6 p.m.
