Leona Schriner Edgar, 93 years of age from Minden, NE died on Wednesday, September 19, 2012 at the Bethany Home in Minden. Leona was born on August 3, 1919 in Friend, NE to Henry and Gladys (Dillon) Engel. She grew up in the Friend-Dorchester area and attended school in Friend. Leona married Clarence Schriner on May 2, 1937 and they lived in the Bloomington-Napanee area. They later moved to Riverton, then to Franklin. Clarence died and Leona married Verle Edgar on June 5, 1976 and he died in 1994. Leona moved to Minden in 1996. Leona loved being around her family. She spent many hours baby-sitting her grandchildren and loved every minute of that time. Leona's life long goal was to be a good mother and grandmother, well accomplished! Survivors include four daughters, Glenda Stokes of Ravenna, Gaylene Hill of Minden, Dianna Wilhelms of Oxford and Vicki Poppe and her husband, Richard of Byron, NE; 19 grandchildren; 43 great grandchildren; 28 great great grandchildren; three sisters, Helen Shelton of Kennard, NE, Lorene Frerichs of Beatrice and Arlene Matthews of Panama City, FL; daughter in-law, Edith Schriner of Kearney. She is preceded in death by her two husbands; son, Roger Schriner; granddaughter, Debbie; three great grandchildren, Star, Mary and Joseph; sister, Marge: and brother, Don. Funeral services will be on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Riverton Congregational United Church of Christ with Revs. Baron and Nancy Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Riverton Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Friday from 3-5 p.m.
