Bernice Slack Danielson, 98 years of age from Minden, Nebraska died on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Mount Carmel in Kearney. Bernice was born on March 25, 1914 in Upland, Nebraska to Otto and Nellie (Weldon) Valentine. She grew up in the Upland area and attended school there. On May 23, 1937 she married Raymond Slack and they lived in Minden. She owned and operated the Bow & Arrow Café in Minden for many years. Later was the food service supervisor for the Minden Public Schools. Raymond died in 1975. In November of 1981 she married Kenneth Danielson, he passed away in 2002. Bernice enjoyed cooking and baking for family and friends. She loved spending time with her family. Her family fondly remembers her rose and vegetable garden. She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden. Survivors include son in-law, Roy Bernshausen of Denver; four grandchildren, Ed Bernshausen and his wife, Tammy, Michael Bernshausen, John Bernshausen and Cynthia Talarico and her husband, Mark; 10 great grandchildren, Jennifer, Jeremy, Brandon, Daniel, Justin, James, Katheryn, Janna, Julie and Thomas; 10 great great grandchildren and one sister, Marion Christensen of North Platte. She is preceded in death by her two husbands, daughter, Alice Bernshausen, two sisters and one brother. Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. Donald Becker officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Friday from 3-5 and 7-8 p.m.
