MCBRIDE, James Stanley


James Stanley McBride, 85 of Minden passed away March 30, 2012. He was born July 25, 1926 in Blue Hill, NE, the oldest child of J.R. & Isabel (Chaplin) McBride. He grew up in Blue Hill and moved to Minden in 1940, where he graduated from Minden High School in 1944. He entered the Navy upon graduation, and briefly attended the University of Nebraska. He returned to Minden where he worked at the Ford dealership. He met Pamela Mason while she was visiting her uncle in Minden; the couple married and made a honeymoon trip to her home in England. He soon pursued his interest in farming, and moved his young family to a small farmhouse south west of Axtell, later moving to a larger home west of town. Health issues forced him to quit farming, and he began a career in real estate, eventually establishing McBride Realty which he operated until again his health forced his retirement. He is survived by his wife Pam of Minden, five children, Karen Flesner and her husband, Rod of North Platte, Brian McBride and his wife, Ellie of Glendale, AZ, Linda Novacek and her husband, Darrell of Norfolk, David of Beaumont, Texas and Deb Thramer and her husband, Tim of Blue Hill; 14 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and his brother Dick McBride and his wife, Kay Lyn of Minden. He was preceded in death by his daughter Susan, 1 grandson, and 3 great-grandchildren as well as his sister Pat Peterson, and brother Bob McBride. Services will be Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Minden with Rev. Nancy Lambert officiating. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Monday from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be later in the Minden Cemetery.
