OSTERBUHR, Ardyce

Ardyce Osterbuhr, 86 years of age from Upland, NE died on Tuesday, March 27, 2012 at the Bethany Home in Minden. Ardyce was born on September 5, 1925 in Franklin County, NE, two and half miles east of Macon to Hippe T. and Emma (Evers) Yelken. She was educated at Districts 75 and 9 and graduated from Franklin High School. Ardyce took normal training and taught in school districts 21, 63 and 75. On April 8, 1945 she married Earl Osterbuhr at the Methodist Church in Macon by Rev. Lamont Carlson where she had been baptized and confirmed. She later joined her husband's church, the Emmanuel Lutheran Church south of Hildreth. To enrich their love two daughters came to this union, Debra and Donna. Ardyce and Earl worked, side by side on their farm for most of their married life. Ardyce was actively involved in the church activities, teaching Sunday school for 18 years. She held many offices in the ALCW and ELCW. Ardyce spent many hours making blankets for relief. She was also involved with school activities, P.T.A. and Y-Teen Mothers. She was on the Hildreth Library Board for 14 years, the Women's Club for 29 years, and a member of the Extension Club, Franklin County Museum, Franklin County Historical Society and the Nebraska State Historical Society. Ardyce was very proud of her family roots and researched them for 35 years. She was a member of the Ostfriesen Genealogical Society. Ardyce loved her family and took pride in their achievements. She was there for all of them. Ardyce and Earl were fortunate to have been married for almost 67 years. She loved her home and took pride in her flower and vegetable gardens. She always welcomed visitors into home with a cup of coffee and something to eat along with plenty of conversation. Survivors include her husband, Earl of Upland; two daughters, Debra Potter and her husband, Lee of Wilcox and Donna Osterbuhr of Omaha; four grandchildren, Christopher Potter, Brandon Potter and his wife, Susan, Brittney Biskup and her husband, Blake and Jesse Osterbuhr; four great grandchildren, Kathryn and Camryn Potter and Linden and Tucker Biskup, with another great grandchild due in April. She is preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary. Funeral services will be on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church west of Macon with Revs. Baron and Nancy Cole officiating. Burial will be in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery south of Hildreth. Visitation will be on Saturday from 3-4 p.m. and Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the Jelden-Craig Funeral Home in Hildreth.
