LaVeda Youngson, 99 years of age from Minden died on Friday, March 2, 2012 at the Bethany Home in Minden. LaVeda was born on September 8, 1912 in Lebanon Kansas to Miles and Delilah “Watson” Hoag. She graduated from Wood River High School in 1931. She was a licensed cosmetologist, worked and managed a beauty shop in Grand Island. On October 5, 1940 she married Elmer Youngson in Las Vegas, NV and during World War II lived in Glendale, California. In 1950 they returned to Nebraska eventually settling in Minden. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Minden and enjoyed volunteering for the church and Bethany Home. She enjoyed many hobbies including sewing, crocheting, crafts, and playing cards with her many friends. Survivors include a son Steve Youngson and wife Carol of Louisville, KY, Granddaughter Ashley Youngson, Sister-in-laws Ella Hoag of Grand Island and Violet Duckworth of Grand Junction Colorado. Nephews Mike Hoag and wife Mary Pat of Norfolk, Jim Hoag of Grand Island, and James and Jeanette Wilkinson of Minden. She is preceded in death by parents; husband Elmer Youngson, and brother Duane Hoag. Memorial services will be on Tuesday, March 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Minden with Rev. Nancy Lambert officiating. Graveside services will be prior to the memorial service at the Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Monday from 5-7 p.m.
