Paul Kamery, 88 years of age from Minden, Nebraska, formerly of Sargent, NE died on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 in Minden. Paul was born on June 20, 1923 in Loup County, Nebraska near Sargent in a sod house to Howard and Julia (Fahey) Kamery. He grew up in that area. On June 22, 1971 he married Jeanette Gruber in Taylor, Nebraska. They lived in the Sargent area where Paul worked on cattle and horse ranches. He was an animal lover and enjoyed coyote dogs, horses and mules. He spent many hours breaking horses to ride and mules to drive. In 1976 they moved to Trenton, Nebraska where they owned a grocery store until retirement in 1986. They then returned to the hills of Sargent. Paul was always a family man who thoroughly loved being around his children and adored his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In October of 2011, Paul and Jeanette moved to Minden to be with family and enjoyed seeing them on a daily basis. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette of Minden; two sons, Doug Kamery and his wife, Pat of Haxtun, CO and Johnie Kamery and his wife, Buffi of Minden; daughter, Darla Deckert and her husband, Kyle of Lincoln, KS; six grandchildren, Maylee, Mattie, Jennifer, Miranda, Melissa and Jake; five great grandchildren and one sister, Donna Vancura and her husband, Edwin of Ord. He is preceded in death by two brothers, Bo Kamery and Milford Kamery and two sisters, Agnes Howard and Neola Holcomb, and a nephew who was like a brother, Eldon Howard. Funeral services will be on Friday, March 2, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the Minden American Legion, Heartwell VFW and the U.S. Army National Guard. Visitation will be at the Layton-Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Thursday from 4 - 6 p.m.
