JACK, Betty Bell Reyman
JACK, Betty Bell Reyman, daughter of Ralph Abram and Ada Bell Reyman, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2006, at Adams Place in Murfreesboro, where she and her husband, Col. Jean Jack, have lived since early February of this year. Prior to Adams Place they lived on East Main Street for 28 years. Betty was born in Tekamah, Neb., in 1918. She and Jean have often said they met in a sandbox when they were little children. She earned a teaching degree at the University of Nebraska, and taught in a one-room schoolhouse. In 1972 she completed a Bachelor of Science degree from MTSU. She lived an exemplary Christian life as the wife of a career Air Force officer, mother to her children, grandmother, and an integral part of her church and community. Over the decades, people have benefited from her gracious hospitality and her visits to private homes, nursing home and hospitals, and her countless cards and letters of encouragement. Among her interests are her husband and family and community members, church, Bible studies and teaching, international studies, the League of Women Voters, and the DAR. Over the decades she took classes at colleges and universities, and always continued learning. She was preceded in death by her sons Robert and Stanley. She is survived by her husband, Col. Jean Albert Jack; their son Abram and his wife Donna, Colorado; daughter Diana and her husband Mike Rawlins, Texas. Abram and Donna have three sons, Stand and his wife Corene and their son Nathaniel (born on his great-grandmother Betty’s birthday in 2005) reside in Colorado; David and his wife Trisha are in Missouri; and Christopher is in Colorado. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, and funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 13 at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church on Ruitherford Blvd. Honorary pallbearers at the church will be the Don Emerson Sunday School Class. Visitation at the church will be one hour before the service. Betty will be interred in Tekamah, Neb. Woodfin Memorial Chapel, Murfreesboro, in charge of arrangements.
