OLINE, Herbert

Herbert Oline, 96 years of age from Minden, Nebraska, formerly of Axtell died on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Kearney County Health Services-Hospital in Minden. Herb was born on December 10, 1915 in Minden, NE to Arthur and Sadie Marie (Jensen) Oline. He grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School in the class of 1933. Herb served his country from 1941 until 1945 in the army. He was in the armored infantry, serving in the European Theatre. On March 10, 1946 he married Rhoda Danielson. They farmed and fed cattle near Axtell. They were blessed with three daughters Ardyce, Nancy and Margie. Rhoda died in 1983. In 1985 he married Betsy Wissing. Betsy died in 2000. Herb loved to be around people, he stayed up on current affairs and loved to talk about them. He enjoyed traveling and woodworking after retirement. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church south of Axtell, and had served on the church council. He served on the Axtell School Board, Water Users Board, T-Bone Club Board, Axtell Rural Fire Dept. Board, Axtell Lions Club Board, was a life time member of the Kearney County Farm Bureau. Survivors include three daughters, Ardyce Shaffer and her husband, Gary of Page, AZ, Nancy Anderson, and her husband, Kenneth of Loveland, CO and Margie Nelson and her husband, Dudley of Axtell; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; two sisters, Verla Bramble of Ogden, UT and June Schmal of Hot Springs, AR. He is preceded in death by his two wives, and brother, Delmar. Memorial services will be on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church south of Axtell with Rev. David Evenson officiating. Burial will be prior to the memorial service at the church cemetery. There will be no visitation. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.
