DORNHOFF, Rick

Rick Dornhoff, 61 years of age from Heartwell, NE died at his home near Heartwell on Wednesday, January 4, 2012. Rick was born on June 4, 1950 in Minden to Kenneth and Jacqueline (Hawes) Dornhoff. He grew up in the Heartwell and graduated from Minden High School in 1968. He served in the Army National Guard from 1969 until 1975. He attended Kearney State College. On March 24, 1979 he married Goldie Dornhoff in Heartwell. They were blessed with three children, Jennifer, Matthew and Carrie Ann. They lived and farmed near Heartwell. Rick enjoyed hunting, fishing, and being at the cabin. Most of all he loved following his children and grandchildren in their activities. He was a life-long member of the Holy Family Catholic Church in Heartwell. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association. Survivors include his wife, Goldie of Heartwell; two daughters, Jennifer tenBensel and her husband, Joe of Campbell and Carrie Ann Geiger and her husband, Will of Cozad; son Matthew Dornhoff and his wife, Ashley of Norman, NE; three grandchildren, Georgiann and Jaxon tenBensel and Emalyn Geiger; his father, Kenneth Dornhoff and his wife, Betty; two brothers, Ron Dornhoff and John Dornhoff both of Heartwell; sister Julie Dornhoff of Johnson Lake and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother and grandparents. Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 7, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Heartwell with Father Nicholas Baker officiating. Burial will be at the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery near Heartwell. Visitation will be at the Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. with Rosary being recited at the church at 5:00 p.m.
