GRAHAM, Richard L.


Richard L. “Dick” Graham, 82 years of age from Minden, NE died on Sunday, January 1, 2012 at his home in Minden. Dick was born on September 15, 1929 in Gibbon, Nebraska to Hugh and Inez (Omey) Graham. He grew up in the Wood River area and graduated from Wood River High School. After graduation, Dick joined the U.S. Army and later joined the Marines. He served two tours in Korea and was discharged in 1961. He married Leona Mueller on September 7, 1955 and to this union five children were born; Theresa, Richard, Diane, Duane and Joe. After being discharged from the Marines, they moved to Grand Island for a short time and then moved to Minden. Dick worked for the REA and then started working for the City of Minden as a lineman. He retired in 1992. He was a member of the St. John's Catholic Church in Minden. He was a past member of the Minden Vol. Fire Department. He enjoyed working in his yard and decorating for Christmas. Most of all he loved being around his family. Survivors include his wife, Leona of Minden; two daughters, Theresa Sutton and her husband, Ron of Kearney and Diane Polen and her husband, John of Holdrege; three sons, Richard Graham of Minden, Duane Graham and his wife, Karla of Brush, CO and Joe Graham and his wife, Shannon of Hastings; six grandchildren, Heather Stubbs and her husband, David, J.P. Polen, John and Charlie Graham, and Lindsey and Kaitlyn Graham; five great grandchildren and one sister, Ruth Brown and her husband, Harold of Harrisburg, NE. He is preceded in death by one sister, Jean Zlomke. Funeral services will be on Saturday January 7, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. John's Catholic Church in Minden with Father Nicholas Baker officiating. Rosary will be recited on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the church. Visitation will be at the Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Friday from 3-5 p.m. Burial will be at a later date.
