HAWS, Corrine L.

Corrine L. Haws, 89 years of age from Heartwell, NE died on Friday, December 23, 2011 at Mount Carmel Home in Kearney. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Heartwell, NE, with Father Nic Baker officiating. Burial will be at the Minden Cemetery. Rosary will be recited on Monday evening at 7:00 p.m. at the church in Heartwell. Visitation will be at the Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Monday from 3-5 p.m. Corrine was born December 18, 1922, northeast of Minden in Liberty township to Rodney and Lena (Kuehn) Wells. She was the oldest of five children. She attended school in District 47. In August 1943, she married Vernon Meester. Two children were born into this union: Gene and Merna. In February 1950 she married Don Haws. He preceded her in death in September 2002. She lived on the family farm until May 2011 when her health began to fail due to a fall. She was a faithful member of the church and the Alter Society. She was a past president of and long-time member of 3 H's extension club, and a member of the Auxiliary of Pink Ladies. Don and she were in a square dance club, with Corrine sewing many of Don's western shirts and her dresses to match. Her family and friends always came first, and she could always be counted on to give a helping hand. She spent many years gathering information for the Family histories. She loved working in her huge vegetable and flower gardens and playing cards and games. She will be missed by many of us for her beautiful smile. Survivors include her son, Gene Meester of Grand Island; daughter, Merna Cline and husband, Butch of Kearney; brother, Duane Wells and friend, Velda of Minden; granddaughter, Kristi Purintun and husband, Jeff of Overton; grandsons, Todd Cline & wife, Lisa of Kearney and Brent Cline of Kearney; great granddaughters, Sarah and Abby Purintun of Overton, and Anessa Cline of Kearney; and great grandsons, Jared and Josh Cline of Kearney. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister, Iris Bundgard; brothers, Ivan and Owen Wells, and great grandson, Jordan Purintun.
