FRECKS, Joan E.

Joan E. Frecks, 70 years of age from Minden, Nebraska died on Friday, December 23, 2011 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha. Joan was born on July 23, 1941 in Minden, Nebraska to William and Ellen (McMahon) Schwenke. She grew up in the Minden area and graduated from Minden High School in 1959. On November 27, 1960 she married Leland Frecks in Minden, Nebraska. They moved to Lincoln in 1962 and returned to Minden in 1977. Joan started working at the Minden Exchange Bank and Trust in the late 1970's and continued until retiring in April of this year. Joan was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden. She enjoyed babysitting her four grandsons, cooking for her friends and family, being outdoors and spoiling her dog, Oscar. She loved following her grandsons in their sporting and school activities. Survivors include her husband, Leland of Minden; son, Kirk Frecks and his wife, Melissa of Minden; daughter, Kirstin Frecks-Edgman and her husband, Eric of Gretna; four grandsons, Hunter, Carter, Dalton and Grayson; two brothers, Gene Schwenke and his wife, Jan of Lincoln and Jack Schwenke and his wife, Jan of Fort Morgan, CO; brother in-law Glenn Frecks and his wife, Karol of Axtell and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Bill Schwenke and sister in-law Dionee Schwenke. Memorial services will be on Friday, December 30, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethany Lutheran Church in Minden with Rev. Donald Hunzeker officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial in the Minden Cemetery prior to the memorial service. Craig Funeral Home in Minden is in charge of arrangements.
