KUEHN, James Oscar


James Oscar Kuehn was born February 10, 1945, in Hastings, Nebraska to John A. & Lona Dunkleburger Kuehn. He passed away December 2, 2011 at Heartwell, Nebraska, age 66. Funeral Services will be Thursday, December 8, 2011, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Minden, NE, at 2:00 p.m. Craig Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He grew up in the Heartwell area and attended Heartwell School through the 8th grade and graduated from Minden High School in 1963. Jim attended Milford Tech. School in carpentry and worked for a short time in Grand Island. Jim joined the U.S. Army serving his country in Germany and Vietnam. After service he returned home to farm. On September 24, 1972, he married Jane M. Albers and they made their home near Heartwell. Jim and Jane were blessed with three children; James M., Abigail, and Rachel. Jim was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith being a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Minden, NE. He had a great love for the outdoors and the creations of our Lord. While serving in Germany, he learned to fly. Jim passed this love on to his son. He and Jim Matt own their own plane and loved to fly from “Kuehn International Airport”. He gave Abi the strong sense of patriotism. She has been serving our country in the Air Force for 15 years. He passed the love of his surroundings and the appreciation of creation to Rachel. She loves to photograph all and is never seen without a camera at her side. Jim also had a love for trains, planes and old tractors. He was a member of Heartwell VFW, served on the Kearney County Weed Board and Veterans Board. Survivors include his wife, Jane of Heartwell; son, James M. and wife Lenetta of Heartwell; daughter, Abigail Eastman and husband Matt of Bellevue; and daughter, Rachel and friend Ross Clark of Thornton, Colorado. Three grandchildren; Jalen Kuehn, Oscar and Otto Eastman. Mother, Lona Kuehn of Minden, three brothers, John M. and wife Jan, William and wife Kay, and Edwin and wife Sandy all of Heartwell and sister Erma L'Heureux and husband Calvin of Lincoln. Many nephews and nieces who loved him dearly. He is preceded in death by his father, John A. Kuehn. Memorials are suggested to The Lutheran Hour, St. Paul Lutheran Church or family's choice.
