HAROLD, Seevers


Harold Seevers, 94, of Wayne, died Friday, Sept. 28, 2012 at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk. Services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 3 at 10:30 a.m. at Home for Funerals in Norfolk. The Rev. Leon Rosenthal will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Home for Funerals. Burial will be in Crown Hill Cemetery in Madison. Harold Seevers was born Dec. 22, 1917 at Naper to Henry and Bertha (Steffen) Seevers. He attended school at Gregory, S.D., Osmond and Pierce. In his early years he helped his father farm and operate a bar and cafe in Madison. On Aug. 26, 1943 he married Leota Potter in Columbus, In 1944 he started working as a surveyor for the Nebraska Department of Roads. The couple resided in a number of Nebraska towns where road work was being done. His crew was then assigned to Wayne, where he eventually retired. Harold lived in Wayne and then on an acreage east of Wayne. In August of 2007 he moved to The Oaks Senior Living Community in Wayne. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He received several Master Angler Awards from the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and the North Dakota Game and Fish Department. Survivors include two sisters, Vida Sunderman of Norfolk and Ila Sjuts of Columbus; two brothers, Vernon (Marlene) Seevers of O'Neill and Paul Seevers of Nemaha, Iowa; nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leota, in 1989; a brother, Ernest, during World War II, and a brother, Eldon, in 2008. Home for Funerals in Norfolk is in charge of arrangements.
