BERKEYPILE, Shirley F.

Shirley F. Berkeypile, 61 years of age from Heartwell, Nebraska died on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at her home. Shirley was born on September 9, 1950 in Minden, Nebraska to Russell and Mabel (Albers) Johnson. She grew in the Norman area and attended school in Norman until the 8th grade. Shirley graduated from Minden High School and attended beauty school in Hastings. On July 26, 1969 she married Ned Berkeypile and they lived and farmed near Norman. Shirley worked as a hairdresser at her home and then at Long Term Care and Bethany Home in Minden for many years. In 1991 she started working at Kearney County Health Services as a nurses aid and a med aid. Shirley enjoyed shopping and loved being around her children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Heartwell Lioness Club. The family suggests memorials. Survivors include her husband, Ned of Heartwell; son, Scott Berkeypile of Minden; two daughters, Amy Hickman of Kearney and Lisa Berkeypile of Elwood; daughter in-law, Jeanette Berkeypile of Minden; four grandchildren, Garrett and Brett Berkeypile and Clayton and Joe Hickman; two brothers, Leonard Johnson and his wife, Connie of Santa Barbara, CA and Harold Johnson and his wife, Marilyn of Hastings; two sisters, Eileen Stratman and her husband, Gale of Maricopa, AZ and Rose Ann Monie and her husband, Mike of Arapahoe, Nebraska. She is preceded in death by her daughter, Jill, nephew, Jeremy Johnson and her parents. Funeral services will be on Saturday, October 22, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Minden with Thayne Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Minden Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Craig Funeral Home in Minden on Friday from 3-5 and 7-8 p.m.
